Abstract

Oxytetracycline is a derivative of the parent compound tetracycline which is a broad-spectrum antibiotic and is often used by farmers to treat infectious diseases in chickens caused by bacteria. Based on SNI No. 7424:2008, the maximum limit for tetracycline antibiotics is 0.1 ppm. This study aims to determine the presence or absence of tetracycline antibiotic residues in broiler chicken meat in the SMEP, Tugu, and Panjang Bandarlampung markets, and to determine the percentage of broiler chicken meat containing tetracycline antibiotic residues that exceed the SNI No. 7424:2008 limit. In this study, 15 samples were used from 10% of chicken traders for each market with three stages of sampling. This study was conducted using a screening test method, namely by dipping disc paper into the sample and then placing it on agar media that had been mixed with test bacterial cultures. The results are said to be positive for containing antibiotic residues if an inhibition zone is formed around the disc paper with a diameter of > 6 mm and is said to exceed the SNI No. 7424:2008 standard. 7424:2008, if the inhibition zone diameter is formed > 7 mm. This study was conducted on 60 samples in four markets, namely SMEP Market, Kankung Market, Panjang Market, and Tugu Market in Bandar Lampung City from 5 broiler chicken traders in each market with 3 stages of sampling by purposive sampling. From the Inhibition Zone Power Test, the percentage of chicken meat containing positive oxytetracycline residues was 16.67%. While those exceeding the threshold (maximum residue limit/BMR) of SNI No. 7424:2008 were 13.34%.
